Nicholas Bartlett came to Salt Lake Academy after a decade in collegiate athletics where he obtained experience in many different areas. After graduating with a Business management degree from Southern Utah University in 2009, he stayed on with the Thunderbird Athletic Department in a marketing role.
Bartlett joined the Thunderbird staff as a full-time employee in August of 2011 as the Marketing and Promotions Coordinator after a two-year internship in the same capacity. He helped SUU Athletics make the transition from the Summit League Conference to the Big Sky Conference in 2012 including overseeing the official announcement on-campus. Bartlett was also named the meet director for the 2012 Western Athletic Conference Gymnastics Championships where he oversaw the coordination, event management, planning and execution of the meet along with WAC officials.
Bartlett oversaw the marketing and promotion of all 17 Division I sports at SUU from 2011 to 2014. During this time he took the program to new heights. Setting new attendance records in football, women's basketball and gymnastics. Attendance in football rose consistently year-to-year and attendance in gymnastics was top-10 in the Nation almost every year. He took over all social media platforms in 2013 where he would grow each platform by an average of 200% per year.
In October of 2014, Bartlett was named the Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations where he would oversee media relations, marketing and promotions. He oversaw every aspect of external operations for SUU Athletics until October of 2015 when he was named the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Revenue Generation.
Bartlett ran a marketing and revenue generation team in charge of marketing, ticket sales, sponsorships, fulfillment, event planning, management and website. He helped launch the new look to SUUTBIRDS.COM in May 2016 and has since set new records in almost all capacities. SUU football broke their average attendance record previously set in 2016 (8,255) with a new record average attendance of 9,084. SUU also broke the single game attendance record set in 2016 on three different occasions in 2017, with new record marks of 10,633 set against Cal Poly on homecoming 2017, 10,842 set in the Big Sky Championship game against NAU, and 11,811 set against Weber State in round two of the FCS Playoffs.
Additionally, Bartlett and the external affairs team grew corporate sponsorship revenue over 203% from fiscal year 2016 to fiscal year 2017, resulting in another all-time high for SUU Athletics.
SUU also set all-time highs in both ticket sales revenue and overall attendance in 2016-17. Thunderbird football attendance increased from an average of 3,261 in 2014 to an average of 8,255 in 2016, representing a 153% increase. An all-time single game attendance record of 10,306 was set at SUU’s homecoming game vs. Portland State in 2016. Additionally, SUU gymnastics program set a school record with an average attendance of 3,222 per meet which was good for the 11th highest average attendance in the nation. Additionally, men’s basketball saw a 29% increase in attendance over last season, while women’s basketball grew 18% during the same time period. Across all ticketed sports, SUU’s attendance grew over 29% during the 2016-17 campaign.
Bartlett served in numerous roles and capacities while on the Thunderbird Staff. He served as the Associate AD for Corporate Partnerships, Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Revenue Generation, Assistant AD for Media Relations, as well as the sport supervisor for the SUU Soccer team, women's tennis, men's and women's XC and Track and Field, the Cheer and Stunt team, the SUU Dance team and the SUU Band.
Bartlett received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from Southern Utah University and a Master's Degree in Professional Communication and Sports Administration from SUU.
Bartlett has four children: Ethan, Alyvia, Harrison and Tanner.
